Wisconsin.
A swing state, sure. But it’s not the only one. To get this ‘on paper,’ if you will, before the election, here’s what I say:
Presidential:
Electoral votes: 315/223 (http://www.270towin.com/2012_election_predictions.php?mapid=bpDm)
Romney will achieve 300+ EV, maybe many as high as 347.
Mitt Romney: 53%+ Nationwide Popular vote (around 50% in WI)
Barack Obama: 47%- Nationwide Popular vote (49% in WI)
WI Senator:
Tommy Thompson: 51% Statewide
Tammy Baldwin: 48% Statewide
US House: Retain (and gain seats) Republican control
US Senate: Republican control unlikely, but a couple gains possible.
I base these on nothing, pure conjecture, guessing from random polls and my own ‘knowledge’ in Wisconsin. Lots of Cheeseheads are dumb enough to vote for progressive policies that look only to expand government and reduce personal freedoms, but there are enough here to offset that, especially in 2012.
Will Barack Obama be voted out of office on November 6, 2012? Yes.
Will Mitt Romney be the 45th President of these United States? Yes.
Will Tommy Thompson be the next senator from Wisconsin? Yes. And this mainly on name recognition alone.
WI Congressional District 1 numbers will be fun to see Tuesday. I hope they’re smart enough to vote for Paul Ryan twice (the only time I can recommend it).
Now it’s on the record, let’s hope I’m at least mostly right. I do miss Herman though.
